Wishing you Every Sweetness for the new year
Happiness, Health, Hope & Light for new beginnings...
Rosh Hashanah has specific foods that are eaten.
Three of these are apples, honey and carrots.
The meal begins by dipping the apple in the honey
and asking G‑d to bless us with a sweet, good year.
We also cook with honey, and traditionally eat honey cake.
Carrots are also eaten for their sweetness.
The Yiddish word for carrot, meren, means “to increase” ~
We want all good things to increase during the year.
The Hebrew word for this vegetable, gezer,
is from the same root as “judgments,” gezeirot~
we want all our judgments to be positive, good and sweet...
