LENT SUNDAY 1 : BECOMING THE BELOVED 2 - by HENRI NOUWEN 22.2.15

First Sunday of Lent

we continue meditations with 2nd of Henri Nouwen's
BECOMING THE BELOVED

*

Embrace our brokenness in the Light of being Blessed.
Sharing that blessing in blessing others doesn't diminish our blessing.
Be generous!

“solitude begins with a time and a place for God, and God alone.
If we really believe not only that God exists but also that God is actively present
in our lives-- healing, teaching and guiding-- we need to set aside a time and space
to give God our undivided attention."
[Matt 6:6]

"How does one live a spiritual life in a secular world?" Henri Nouwen responds from the depths of his heart to this dilemna posed by his friend Fred Bratman. Newly available on CD for the first time, this audiobook is recorded by Nouwen himself. His own interpretive reading of the text lends a sense of immediacy to the production. 2 CDs/2.5 hours (approx.)

Ouch, I'm busted on this one. Always too much going on in my mind to concentrate or otherwise 'be quiet'. Would LOVE to work on that.

I grew up in a home where my mother went to the Christian Science church, my father was an agnostic, so I don't have much experience with Lent.

How true are those words, Sharon! I haven't read anything by him, but my daughter discovered his writing while in seminary and enjoys him. On a funny note, she even named her cat "Henri"!

Well LuAnn this is a gentle intro then with these brief video thoughts - glad you're here and you're welcome to pop in and have a listen anytime. It does quiet my thoughts in a new direction and honouring myself with this time out does have benefits! Thanks for being here :)

Carole - that cat story is great - def a smart cat I'd guess...;)
Lots of his writing to choose from - a nice intro is the daily meditation email from his online site - gives a taste of a variety of his writing topics . Thanks for taking time to chat :)
