ON MY WORD for 2015 : PEACE 8.2.15

Into the second month of this year and  I'm wondering how your
Word for 2015
is sitting with you.  Or how you're sitting with your Word?
Has your life been  impacted?  Is it being impacted?
New insights? ...or revelations?
Is it holding you?  Maybe you're holding it.
Close?  at arms length?

*

The Word discovery process I implemented was the blog invitation posted.
Some time out was profitable to gain the end result as well as enjoy the journey.
My Word for 2015 is ...

*

*

I am anticipating enlarging my understanding of all that
God intends for me in gracing me with this Word 'PEACE'.
In the meaning of this Word to me - to my life - to my responses to life...
It's a large Word.  Full.  Rich.  Resourceful.
"able to deal skillfully and promptly with new situations, difficulties, etc."
Sounds like God knows just what I need!

*

I look forward to learning more.
Taking time to reflect - to digest - to assimilate.
To have my vision enlarged of God and God's ways of Peace.

*
"through our God’s most tender mercy,
which causes the Sunrise to visit us from Heaven,
to shine on those in darkness, living in the shadow of death,    and

to guide our feet into the paths of peace.
Luke 1.78-79 CJB
*
I look forward to hearing about your Word and its impact so far.
Comments valued.  Always.

FRIDAY FIVES: WHAT'S 'NEW'...? 9.1.15

Random Friday Five: New

by RevGalPal marybethbutler
Happy Friday!
I announce it as a random Friday Five. But with a theme: NEW.
*
1. If you have one, what is your new resolution?

*
Not one to make resolutions, the one commitment I have made to myself is to freely choose which books I read and when.  Intentionally avoiding time constraints of meeting review deadlines and commitments of others.  I am choosing to free up my life, avoid self-induced stress [and any other kind if and where possible!], and aim for the most peaceful existence possible.

2. Many folks choose a new word for a year's beginning, as Marci's congregation does with StarWords. Some let their word choose them, like Christine at Abbey of the Arts. Do you have a word for the year?
*

After my time in the desert this autumn,
I posted an Invitation to discern our 2015 Word as I subscribed to Christine's enotes as well.
The Word for 2015 that chose me is 'peace'.
 In depth post to follow...

*
3. What is your new favorite exclamation/phrase at times of joy or frustration?
Not sure I have one....
4. Do you have a new favourite food, or an old one you are newly enjoying?
*

*
Shortbread !  I enjoyed the few samples at Christmas so entirely, I actually went out to specifically purchase all the ingredients to bake my own - as and when a craving should hit!  and definitely NOT limited to Christmas :)
*
5. Finally, in general: what is your new favourite thing?
Freedom.  As many of you know, last year was intense on the social justice front including the many prayers requested and received, with the December 1st outcome being dismissal of the perpetrator.  A collective 'sigh' and new sense of my body's  appreciation.  It has begun relaxing since that momentous phone call that allowed me to return to my home.  Yes.  FREEDOM is definitely my new fav thing!!

Thanks, Marybeth!  I enjoyed the F5's play.
New Year Blessings to you and yours...
and ALL the RevGals!

Feel free to share yours here in comments!

WHAT IS YOUR WORD - 2015?

Having just returned from my own desert study time, I am inspired to accept this year's Abbey of the Arts invitation from Christine and offer it to you ...
In ancient times, wise men and women fled out into the desert to find a place where they could be fully present to God and to their own inner struggles at work within them. The desert became a place to enter into the refiner's fire and be stripped down to one's holy essence. The desert was a threshold place where you emerged different than when you entered.
One tradition being revived is to ask for a word –  something on which to ponder for many days, weeks, months, sometimes a whole lifetime. This practice is connected to lectio divina, where we approach the sacred texts with the same request – "what is Your word for me" we ask – something to nourish me, challenge me, a word I can wrestle with and grow into.  The word that has the potential to transform me.
  • What is your word for the year ahead? A word which contains within it a seed of invitation to cross a new threshold in your life?

  • Need some help in the process?  Christine offers a gift of 12 days of enotes and
spiritual practice that inspirit us to recognize our 'word' for the year ahead and to allow it to deepen
within us.  Participation is free.  Signup available here.
