TOP TEN TUESDAY: BOOKISH CHARACTERS 28.7.15

~
TOP TEN TUESDAY
July 28th Theme at The Broke and Bookish ?
Ten Characters Who Are Fellow Book Nerds
[love reading, are writers, work at a bookstore, etc]

Here's one TTT to get me researching my book memories!
Not sure I'll make it to 10 but will give it a go ...
Beginning with this month's PARIS in JULY theme, I'll add -
~
1-
~
Canadian Book Challenge 9 begins annually on Canada Day, July 1st, fondly
celebrated reading any from the series of our book loving Anne of Green Gables -
~
2-
~
Another classic book lover ... and writer, pictured in this cover
~
3-
~
Featuring a variation of Goodnight Moon, bookstore owners with a mysterious twist...
~
4-
~
Love CJ Darlington's suspense filled thriller series of antiquarian estate sales and 1st editions...
book 1 Thicker Than Blood
~
5-

~
Book 2 - Bound by Guilt - from my review:
"The story itself is intense with an increasing pace that had me laying the book aside at times to relieve the tension. Suspenseful drama, mystery, adventure, intrigue, all realistic in culturally relevant contemporary settings. Well developed growth and maturing of likeable characters; strong emotionally influential features of disliked characters. Generational variety in characters who come to life in the reading, exhibiting believable actions and reactions.
Enough twists to keep the reader guessing and unsettled enough to keep reading.
I recommend Ms Darlington's 'Bound By Guilt' as readily as her debut, 'Thicker Than Blood'."
~
6-
~
3rd of the series, Ties That BindOn a quest to find her father, a young woman discovers she has two sisters who have no idea she exists. Brynn Taylor is determined to find her father, a man she's never met. Her only clue to his whereabouts is an address she finds in a rare volume of Jane Austen's "Sense & Sensibility" inscribed to her years ago.
~
7-
~
Situated in England and suddenly out of work, an opportunity to assist an author offers
A Summer to Remember
~
8-
~
From summer to winter, a  bookstore owner's story I loved is found in Jan Karon's
Shepherds Abiding
~
9-
~
And from winter to Summer's List .
When Summer's dying gran gives Summer a bucket list to complete, Summer must decide
if she's willing or not to venture beyond her comfortable life hidden in the bookstore.
This newly released bookstore tale brings me to 10.
~
10-

~
And one for good measure - Dear Mr Knightley - I love this incognito, Jane Austen loving writer!
Especially as next weekend begins #AusteninAugust with Adam of Roof Beam Reader -
Be sure to Signup for the month long Reading  Party for Jane Austen fans.
~

~
Any favs you'd like to inspire new additions to my shelves?
I look forward to discovering your writerly and readerly bibliophile tales!

TOP TEN TUESDAY: BOOKS I'D LOVE TO SEE AS MOVIES 2.6.15

~
June 2: Top Ten Books I'd Love To See As
Movies/Tv Shows

Tuesday prompt hosted at The Broke and The Bookish
~
A few coming to mind.  Let's see how close I get to 10!

I'd love to see Stacy Henrie's 'Of Love and War' series dramatised for a TV series.
The characters, relationships and WWI settings and actions were great reading I'm sure
would make for
some seriously great viewing.
~
~

Lisa T Bergren's medieval time travel 'River of Time' series
would be epic.  Reading it was edge of your seat.
~
~

Jessica Dotta's gothic 'Price of Privilege' series is all dark suspense, mind bending,
 and high adventure
I'd love to see filmed.
~
~

One intensely intriguing Regency mystery by Laurie Alice Eakes,
pirates, ship wrecks, cliff caves, and missing people - arrgh mateys!
~
~

Set in Brazil, 'Escape to Paradise' captivated with descriptive exotic settings,
wild jungle adventures and some creepy people...
from MaryLu Tyndall
~
~

And my list wouldn't be complete without Julianna Deering's
swoonworthy hero, Drew Farthering, in his vintage mystery series
[book 4 Dressed For Death due April 2016 !]
~

~
ANY of Sibella Giorello's Raleigh Harmon suspense!

~
I'm over the 10 book list, but at 5 series + 2 single titles I'm not really done, right?
Seriously, I can think of so many fantastic novels to cinema
I'd love to have the opportunity to view.
Any of Tamera Alexander's historic series,
Jacqueline Winspear's ongoing 'Maisie Dobbs', Susan Elia MacNeal's 'Maggie Hope' series,
Michael K Reynolds' 'Heirs of Ireland', Murray Pura's 'Danforths of Lancashire',
Victoria Connelly's 'Molly's Millions', Julie Klassen's 'Girl in the Gatehouse' for one,
James Rubart's 'Rooms' + trilogy, Sigmund Brouwer's 'Merlin's Immortals' etc etc...

Great Top Ten topic!

Hoping you'll find something that intrigues maybe enough to pursue reading the stories.
I know I'd be impressed to see these filmed!  Whose got the Popcorn?
Looking forward to seeing your Top Ten choices ~

BOOKS: TOP TEN BEACH READS 26.5.15

Morning!
~

~
I've been looking forward to today's Top Ten lists.
Considering the prompt brings up dreams of Summer!

~
Here's the prompt from The Broke and the Bookish -
"Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer or

Ten Books I Think Make Great Beach Reads"
~

I'll share mine then I'll look for yours in links so we'll have enough for our summer reading!
Deal?
~
To Mend a Dream
Having read and loved Tamera Alexander's May 12th release  To Win Her Favor
I'm anticipating To Mend a Dream,
the novella that develops Savannah's story .
Adding the full short story collection as well -
Among the Fair Magnolias
~
~
Another fav, Anita Higman's Winter in Full Bloom , I 'm adding her newest.
June's release - Summer's List
She had the bookstore, she had her beloved granny, but she was missing something-or someone. . .
*
Waiting for Kimberly Rose Johnson's Wildflower B&B Romance series #2.
Island Dreams will be releasing just in  time for August at the beach - Chase Grayson values the peace and quiet of Wildflower Island. That serenity is threatened by a developer, Piper Hunt, who wants to destroy everything he values in a home. However, he likes Piper in spite of her mission and doesn't want to see her hurt. But if he doesn't stop her, life as he knows it will be forever altered, and if he succeeds he will never see her again. . .
~
The Rose Girls [June release] by Victoria Connelly
and pretty much any of Victoria's makes for a
fun filled, perfect light beach read.
The Rose Girls is an uplifting, tender and romantic story of courage, perseverance and the healing power of family.  Molly's Millions Hard-up florist Molly Bailey has just won £4.2 million pounds. And she needs to get rid of it – fast!  A strong belief that sharing her good fortune is the only way forward, Molly unwittingly becomes the most sought-after person in the country as, in true Robin Hood style, she distributes her wealth to the masses.
~
Anything Agatha Christie will be in my beach bag along with an
MC Beaton Hamish Macbeth mystery
[and probably in audio]
~
Can.Not.Wait. for Sarah Ladd's next release and new series Treasures of Surrey.
I won The Curiosity Keeper  at Kav Rees's totally fun week of
winner's choice giveaways.
Being a fan, I will devour this as soon as the post delivers.
As a second son, he was content working as a village apothecary. But when his brother’s death made him heir just as his father’s foolish decisions put the estate at risk, only the sale of a priceless possession—a ruby called the Bevoy—can save the family from ruin. But the gem has disappeared. And all trails lead to Iverness Curiosity Shop—and the beautiful shop girl who may or may not be the answer to his questions.
~
I've been adding to my Jane Austen fan fiction shelf
and kindle ereads in anticipation of another Austen in August.
THis short story collection definitely = More great beach reads!
Six modern adaptations of Austen's classics. So put up your parasols and prepare for sunshine, smiles, and, of course, happily ever afters.
~
This just sounds too fun -
Jessie Stanton has it all. Until one fateful afternoon when she notices her BMW bouncing by the window behind a tow truck...
~
An invite to a FB release party for a perfect beach read anthology that is
now going into the beach bag!  Thanks to east coast Canadian author J Marie Croft
for inviting me and I, in turn, invite you - June 3rd  -
Come join Sun-Kissed: effusions of summer
~

~
Which brings my list to 10 + !  I hope you've found something you'd like-
