our photo prompt this week
is
"important"
"We ask ourselves: Who am I to be?
Brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so
that people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God
that is in us. It is not just in some of us,
it is in everyone
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same..."
Colossians 1.26-2.6
"God wanted everyone...to know this rich and glorious secret
inside and out,
regardless of their background,
regardless of their religious standing.
The mystery in a nutshell is just this:
Christ is in you,
so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God's glory.
It's that simple.
That is the substance of our Message...
We teach in a spirit of profound common sense
so that we can bring each person to maturity.
To be mature is to be basic.
Christ! No more, no less...
I want you woven into a tapestry of love,
in touch with everything there is to know of God.
Then you will have minds confident and at rest,
focused on Christ, God's great mystery.
All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge
are embedded in that mystery
and nowhere else."
~The Message
Mt 5.15
"You're here to be light,
bringing out the God-colors in the world.
God is not a secret to be kept.
We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.
If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you?
I'm putting you on a light stand.
Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!
Keep open house;
be generous with your lives.
By opening up to others,
you'll prompt people to open up with God,
this generous Father in heaven."
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same..."

Beautiful blog... I love roses.
Hi there! I actually read this yesterday and found myself thinking about it alot. I didn't get to leave a comment because I was working pretty hard on the tea post. But I do think you have hit the heart of importance there. We are all valuable in God's eyes, and that is something that makes us important at the very roots of our being. It gives us confidence in ourselves and a love for others to know that we are already special with no need to prove it. This gives everyone courage to be themselves and to be what God has called us to be. I had a hard time understanding this as a young woman. It's so wonderful to feel good about me..and about everyone I meet. I celebrate the WOW in everyone. :O)
These are just some of the thoughts going through my mind as I read your post. It's so good!

So true that there's no need to "play small." Love this post!
If only everyone could come into the light and reflect it out like you do.
