Happily, a busy reading [and listening] week for me .
A new commitment to audios is really helping relieve eye strain from too much screen viewing.
'Read' and reviewed this week :
A collection of stories and thoughts about celebrating the life that God gives us. Offering a vision of life focused on hope, redemption and celebration, in the midst of the heartbreak and boredom and broken glass we all encounter.   - audio book

DEATH OF A CHARMING MAN - by MC Beaton
Beaton's wit adds a great humour to situations particular to
Death of a Charming Man as husbands react to this 'charming man's' arrival in their village
and his effect on their wives.
Middle age complacency is now hurriedly attacked with hair dyes and do's,
exercise regimens, new wardrobes, and the ubiquitous high heels!
But when the 'charming man' goes missing, what and who else might be afoot in those heels?

MARY POPPINS IN CHERRY TREE LANE  - by PL Travers
Mary Poppins returns with the Banks children in tow for a Midsummer's Eve picnic in the park.  Much to the chagrin of the park keeper who is distressed with the comings and goings of everyone out for an enjoyable evening.  Fantasy seems the order of Mary Poppins picnic even for the park keeper... audio book

UNDERGROUND TO CANADA - by Barbara Smucker
Thinking of a Black History Month read,
when this one came to mind, I was quick to get into the pages.
A YA read describing the slave life of June Lilly
and her subsequent escape via the Underground Railroad
from Mississippi northward to freedom in Canada.
Fantastic story.  HIGHLY recommended
and perfect for a quick but informative read.

And currently ...?
Listening to 'new to me' mystery author,
Carola Dunn's  'Murder on the Flying Scotsman'
narrated by Mia Chiaramonte.
6 + hrs of listening enjoyment

Spring of 1923 and the Honourable Daisy Dalrymple is on her way to a stately home in Scotland to research her next article for
Town and Country
On board the Flying Scotsman, the famous London-to-Edinburgh train, Daisy meets an old schoolfellow, Anne Bretton, along with all of her relatives, is en route to visit the deathbed of the family scion and notorious miser, Alistair McGowan. As it currently stands, Alistair’s will leaves the entire family fortune to his brother Albert, and the rest of the family is rushing to convince him to change his will in their favour.
Daisy has her hands full taking care of Detective Inspector Alec Fletcher’s young daughter Belinda, who ran away from home and stowed away aboard the train.
Daisy barely has time to take notice of the intricate family feud taking place around her— that is, until Albert McGowan is found murdered on the train                                            and Daisy is surrounded by an entire family of suspects. . .

All of your book selections sound good to me. I haven't tried audio versions, I love to hold the paper book and now am also reading ebooks. I have Persuasion by Jane Austen on my ebook reader and trading off reading that with reading the 14th Inspector Montalbano book "The Age of Doubt" by Andrea Camelleri, mysteries set in Sicily.

Intrigued with your Sicily setting for mystery reading! nice.
I've been struggling with screen stress of my vision, so really valuing the audio books to relieve some of that whilst still allowing my love for story...

glad you stopped by and chatted, Terra =) Thank you.

Such an interesting variety of books. I can do audiobooks but only when I go for long car rides. I read faster than I can listen which is frustrating unless I am doing something else. Come see my Monday Report if you get a chance. Happy reading!

What a great mix of books.
It wasn't until recently that I actually discovered there was a lot more to the Mary Poppins story, this is because I have only watched the film. I added the book to my wishlist at the start of the new year.
Happy Reading!

I love audiobooks, almost turns exercise, car travel and housework into pleasure lol. I love Mary Poppins and after seeing Saving Mr Banks I'd really like to read a book.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading :)

I'm reading "For All Time" by Caroline Cooney. I met her once, so it's fun to read her books. I'm almost done with this book and then I plan to read Gone Girl.

FAR too many books to name. One I'm reading is Melody Carlson's latest novella. It's cute so far. :)

Your first book looks so wholesome and the second and third book entertaining. Like your mixed selection so very much. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Underground to Canada is similar to Underground Railroad, which is popular at the moment and on Oprah's list.
