The Soul's Slow Ripening 16.12.18

The SOUL'S SLOW RIPENING

12 Celtic Practices Seeking the Sacred

~

~ by Christine Valters Paintner

Released September 2018
~
Unique and useful insights shared for our growth spiritually as we pursue our faith life and journey.  Ms Paintner is adept at instructing new thought and practice, gently and creatively.  Which is essential to our comprehension and willingness to interpret life changes.
~
Moving in these new directions of discernment the creative responses inspired by our
"soul's slow ripening" to sweetness is pure art..
The Celtic ways and practices presented resonate at deeper and creative levels than a sole focus of the intellectual discernment.
~
I'm delighted to have these options and examples from early saints.
As well as learning to hear and heed the seasonal calls and rhythms of God's Spirit.  Invitations to themed contemplative walks,  inspiring writing, art, poetry
all influenced by God's creation in landscape and seasons,
will undoubtedly influence a new way of seeing and being.
~
I, for one, am grateful.
And as a spiritual director, soul friend,
this also is an exploration of benefit to the blessing of others.

Journal Expressions by Ellie Claire ... 30.11.18

Absolute delight,
I have had 3 journals to explore this past month
from Ellie Claire

*

~ * ~

I have been excited to choose features
to photograph and introduce
 these journals to you,

unfortunately,
I am beyond belief
with my laptop failing me on this venture!

My instagram intro worked
HERE

and 0 is doing its job since . . .

I have photo examples for each book,
yet somehow, they won't transfer over for me to post them.

I am posting this apology publicly as my instagram post
assured followers there'd be a following blog post
with details and photos of each of the 3 journals.
Which  was fully intended and extensive effort engaged in doing so.

Please accept my apology - I will continue to work on this
and get a post up as soon as the kinks get worked out
of whatever is stopping the production!

Thank you for your interest and patience . . .

I leave you with a beautiful quote from the
Illuminate Your Story
Journal
Just as one candle lights another and can light
thousands of other candles, so one heart
illuminates another heart and can illuminate
thousands of other hearts.

If you are a follower, you will receive a blog posted notice
via email.  Otherwise it will be a matter of checking back in for its posting.

Thanking you for your patience!

BOOK BEGINNINGS: WRITING TO WAKE THE SOUL by KAREN HERING 20.5.16

FRIDAY'S  BOOK BEGINNINGS

This Week?
~
Publisher:  Atria Books / Simon Schuster
Published: November 2013
~
Following host Gilion's prompt at Rose City Reader,
here's the beginning to WRITING TO WAKE THE SOUL by Karen Hering
~

What
  Is the
                    Root of all these
     Words?
                   One thing: love.
                                    --Hafiz
"The human gift of language is born of the desire to connect, to share our experience with each other. Our words are bridges built between one person and the next while also crossing time, from the moment they are written down to the moment they are lifted from the page by a reader."

*
The end of the above sentence really captures my imagination,
as does the book's title.
I anticipate a great long weekend of reading
with this book a prime part.
Further to anyone with interest, an extended excerpt posted HERE
and a shorter post , interestingly, on Beginnings HERE

Karen Hering's back cover quote I find inspiring ~

"Begin writing whenever you are ready and
follow wherever it leads."

*

Have a great weekend!
and be sure to check out all the Friday Book Beginnings
HERE
You may just find another book to add to your shelves!

by Sally Warner

"We are tricked by a phenomenon of time:  Hours and days pass slowly, but years pass quickly. A life passes quickly, but we always think we have plenty of time.
Too often we become so consumed with how we spend our days that we lose track of how we are spending our lives."
I had to hold myself back from writing more ...

Then head over to our hosts to add your own and find other book intros you might like to add to your tbr shelf.

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR EXTRA BOOKS: #1 24.8.15

Little free library
pinterest
~
Having been entirely captivated by the phenomena of little library book exchanges
popping up at the rate of baby rabbits on my local landscape,
I am taking first steps to creating one of my own.
[little library not little rabbit!]
As I've considered the value and impact of this project,
I've also wondered if other book lovers and bloggers might be interested in joining me...
~
For those who might be asking, what is a free little library?
The brain child of 2 american fellas in 2009.
Read all about the Little Free Library history HERE
~*~
Their mission?  From the website ~
*

"To promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations. There are over 30,000 Little Free Library book exchanges around the world, bringing curbside literacy home and sharing over 1 million books annually."

~*~
As book reading and reviewing bloggers, we're all about promoting literacy and the love of reading.
I see little free libraries as a tangible way of increasing our reach.
For all those extra books on our shelves, we have a creative option.
Build a little library of our own to distribute books to fellow readers
and increase book love in our own communities.
Established on the principle of "Leave a book  Take a book  Share a book",
library stock is continually evolving and revolving.
Without fees or overdues!
From childrens to diy, stock can vary by the day.
*
Have you seen little free libraries in your area?  Already set one up?
I've created a pinterest board of info and inspy as I pursue creating my own.
I'm happy to share the ideas HERE and look forward to adding any info you'd like to share.
Tell us more!
*
I anticipate making this a blog series as the project progresses.
If [and when] you choose to join in, I definitely want to see your project
and would love to have everyone share their participation.
Should I create a linkup?  If you are considering this, please do comment your responses.
I would be so excited to share the journey with fellow blogging book lovers :) !
And, of course, follow each other's progress.
*
We really can make an impact on and in our communities with this opportunity.
HERE are some stories with more to come.
~*~
I've made my case.  Now I await your input.
Much like I'll be awaiting the book input for my little library!
and...
Thanks for spreading the Word.

100 DAYS PROJECT: LIGHT and LIFE begins July 11.2014

Taking inspiration from a fellow FB participant, Julie,
who issued this invitation ~
"Here in New Zealand we have a creative project called 100 days. The idea is to choose something creative to do every day, for 100 consecutive days. It isn't about perfection, but something achievable that will stimulate creativity in your life.  It is also open to anyone on planet earth to join this creative opportunity.
It starts tomorrow 11 July, so take a look at
100daysproject

if you are keen to know more."

Since I was keen to know more, I checked it out and ended with
my own registration...

My intentions are to begin the
100 Days Project ~ Projet 100 jours
as of July 11th and to begin
here's my 1st photo of
'Lumiere et la Vie'
'Light and Life'...

*
Here's what I discovered  ~
This is the 4th year
Emma Rogan of NZ has organized and offered her creativity project motivator - my first year to learn of it.  Thanks, Julie!
*
The 100 Days Project is simple - Le projet 100 jours est simple
Choose one creative exercise, and then repeat it every day for 100 days. Record each daily effort and see what evolves in the work and in the self over time.
The project gives anyone a framework and the permission to be creative. It challenges you to dig deep into your creative reserves, to rely on your readiness to work in order to achieve creative breakthrough. It can be an end to procrastination, and the development of resilience. It takes a lot of energy, and yet the rewards can resonate for a long time after the 100th Day is over.
In 2011 Emma Rogan* decided to start a 100 Days Project after reading about Michael Bierut’s ‘100 Days of Design’ class at Yale. She invited others to join her and word of the project spread. Since inception hundreds of people have participated in the project.
This 100 Days Project is not a commercial undertaking, and is not in any way (but spirit) affiliated with the Yale School of Art. Good things will come from the rigorous repetition of a process or idea over the 100 days. To see what others have done before, have a look at the previous projects.
*
Early yesterday I took the leap and registered.
Later in the evening I put time into considering what I could realistically commit to without getting overwhelmed or unable to continue.  What I decided on is a photo or quote illustrating my 'Light and Life'.
'Lumiere et la Vie'
Click to find and follow LIGHT and LIFE  and be sure to send some encouraging comments if you see I've been MIA !
*
How many others have heard of the project?
Are you participating?
If so, I'd love to favourite and follow yours too!
Just let me know your link in comments below or on my fb page.

I'm anticipating some challenges and more good outcomes...

*About the 100 Days Project curator, Emma Rogan ~
Emma is the design director at Augusto. She believes in the benefits of continued creative practice, inside and out of her professional work. Her work for clients has been recognised by the New Zealand Best Design Awards, Communication Arts, Adobe, The Webby Awards and the FWA. In 2012 Emma was invited to speak at TEDxAuckland about the 100 Days Project, and the nature of thinking through creative exploration. Watch the talk here.

*
Looking forward to hearing about your creative projects!

Have a wonderfully creative weekend ...
