FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER: ALPHA's NEW GOOD NEWS 17.4.16

BEGINNING a NEW WEEK with GOOD NEWS

*

~

Welcome to this 4th Sunday of Easter
and to a new week...
~

Living God,
long ago, faithful followers
proclaimed  the good news
of Jesus' resurrection,
and the world was changed forever.
Teach us to keep faith with them,
that our witness may be as bold,
our love as deep,
and our faith as true.
In Your Son's Name we pray,
Amen.

*
*
Alpha just released their new film series
and I'm more than pleased
to be
sharing it with you today...
EnJoy!
*
The full series is available  HERE for download
and to anyone wanting to offer the series.

*
Father of all,
Your Son remained with His disciples  after His resurrection,
teaching them to love all people as neighbours.
As Yeshua Jesus' disciples in this age,
we offer our prayers on behalf of the world
in which we are privileged to live
and our neighbours with whom we share it.
Open our hearts to Your power moving
around us and between us and within us,
until Your glory is revealed in our love of both friend and enemy,
in communities transformed by Your justice and compassion,
Your Truth, Life and Light,
and in the healing of all that is broken.
In Yeshua Jesus' Name.  Amen.

*
May God's glory shine on and within us,
may our lives
proclaim God's goodness,
our work give God honour, and our voices praise
God
forever...
As we go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
Amen.

SONGS on SUNDAYS: FATHER'S LOVE 28.6.15

Welcome to #SONGSonSUNDAYS !

~
Reflecting on 'Father',
I recognize my valuing of God, in the role of Father,
has increased to fill my need
since the loss of my earthly father .
"God in his holy dwelling,
is a father to orphans..."
Psalm 68.5
How intricately God is involved in our lives as Father.
Today's #SONGSonSUNDAYS is a favourite
- FATHER'S LOVE LETTER -
to inspirit us all in the encompassing embrace of our Father.

LENT WEEK 1 DAY 4 : YOU ARE THE BELOVED OF GOD 26.2.15

Meditations in
Being and Becoming the Beloved
as we walk the path of Lent
with Henri Nouwen
*
*
Conclusion to Becoming the Beloved.

Community is not to be a hideout from life.
It's a calling to go.  To a life given.
Coming closer to the heart of God in ministry.  Serving.
Live aware of our own limitations.   We are a fellowship of the weak.
*
"Once you are in deep communion with the poor, you are able to discover your own poverty, your own weakness, your own brokenness and not be afraid of it."
*
Keep space for hearing God's Voice.
Forming community without possessiveness.  Going out.
Claim your Truth.  You are the Beloved of God.

LENT WEEK 1 Day 2: BEING and BECOMING THE BELOVED by Henri Nouwen 24.2.15

Meditations in Being and Becoming the Beloved
as we walk the path of Lent
with Henri Nouwen
*
*
First of the next 3 sessions of Living as the Beloved of God,
Henri Nouwen explores Christ's model of Communion with God.
In the midst of noise and distraction, busyness around and within us,
we must create that spiritual whitespace where we can hear the Voice
calling us to communion, to relationship, to hear we are Beloved of God.
*
Brief and beautiful meditation that challenges as it inspires a new way of
being in our world.
A call to reclaim what we're meant to be...

LENT SUNDAY 1 : BECOMING THE BELOVED 2 - by HENRI NOUWEN 22.2.15

First Sunday of Lent

we continue meditations with 2nd of Henri Nouwen's
BECOMING THE BELOVED

*

Embrace our brokenness in the Light of being Blessed.
Sharing that blessing in blessing others doesn't diminish our blessing.
Be generous!

“solitude begins with a time and a place for God, and God alone.
If we really believe not only that God exists but also that God is actively present
in our lives-- healing, teaching and guiding-- we need to set aside a time and space
to give God our undivided attention."
[Matt 6:6]

O Holy Night by Paul Brandt

*
Silent Night by Kari Jobe
*
*
HOPE Was Born This Night  by Sidewalk Prophets

*
God of Grace and Glory
as heavenly angels spoke to earthly shepherds
and eternity entered time in the child of Bethlehem,
through the telling of the Christmas story,
let our lives be caught up in the eternal
in that same Child,
that we might join shepherds, neighbours, family, and all the heavenly host
in praising the coming of Yeshua, Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.

Mary's Boy by Boney M

Hallelujah [LIGHT Has Come] by BarlowGirl
*
Light of Life, You came in flesh,
born into human pain and joy,

giving us power to be Your children.

Grant us faith, O Christ, to see Your presence among us,

so that all of creation may sing new songs of gladness

and walk in Your way of Peace. Amen.

*

May God's Praise be made Glorious!

Yeshua has come . . .

*
Ending with one celtic version of O Holy Night
by a favourite Canadian Celtic family,
the Barra MacNeils
*

*
God of all ages,
in the birth of Your Son,

Your boundless love for Your people

shattered the power of darkness.

Be born in us with that same Love and Light,

that our song may blend with all the choirs of heaven and earth

to the glory of Your holy name. Amen

Today's Readings
After the king had been living in his palace awhile and Adonai had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies, the king said to Natan the prophet, “Here, I’m living in a cedar-wood palace; but the ark of God is kept in a tent!”Natan said to the king, “Go, do everything that is in your heart, for Adonai is with you.”
But that same night the word of Adonai came to Natan: “Go and tell my servant David that this is what Adonai says: ‘You are going to build me a house to live in? Since the day I brought the people of Isra’el out of Egypt until today, I never lived in a house; rather, I traveled in a tent and a tabernacle.Everywhere I traveled with all the people of Isra’el, did I ever speak a word to any of the tribes of Isra’el, whom I ordered to shepherd my people Isra’el, asking, “Why haven’t you built me a cedar-wood house?”’
“Therefore say this to my servant David that this is what Adonai-Tzva’ot says: ‘I took you from the sheep-yards, from following the sheep, to make you chief over my people, over Isra’el. I have been with you wherever you went; I have destroyed all your enemies ahead of you; and I am making your reputation great, like the reputations of the greatest people on earth. 10 I will assign a place to my people Isra’el; I will plant them there, so that they can live in their own place without being disturbed any more. The wicked will no longer oppress them, as they did at the beginning, 11 and as they did from the time I ordered judges to be over my people Isra’el; instead, I will give you rest from all your enemies.  “‘Moreover, Adonai tells you that Adonai will make you a house.
16 Thus your house and your kingdom will be made secure forever before you;
your throne will be set up forever.’”
2 Samuel 7:1-11 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

*
Then Miryam said,
My soul magnifies Adonai;
47
and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior,
48
who has taken notice of his servant-girl
    in her humble position.
For — imagine it! — from now on, all generations will call me blessed!
49
“The Mighty One has done great things for me!
Indeed, his name is holy50 and in every generation
he has mercy on those who fear him.
51
“He has performed mighty deeds with his arm,

    routed the secretly proud,
52
brought down rulers from their thrones,
    raised up the humble,
53
filled the hungry with good things,
but sent the rich away empty.
54
“He has taken the part of his servant Isra’el,

    mindful of the mercy
55
which he promised to our fathers,
to Avraham and his seed forever.”
*
Now to God, who can strengthen you, according to my Good News,

in harmony with the revelation of the secret truth
which is the proclamation of Yeshua the Messiah,
kept hidden in silence for ages and ages,
26
but manifested now through prophetic writings,
in keeping with the command of God the Eternal,
and communicated to all the Gentiles
to promote in them trust-grounded obedience —
27
to the only wise God, through Yeshua the Messiah,

be the glory forever and ever!
Amen.

Romans 16:25-27
Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

In the sixth month, the angel Gavri’el was sent by God to a city in the Galil called Natzeret, 27 to a virgin engaged to a man named Yosef, of the house of David; the virgin’s name was Miryam. 28 Approaching her, the angel said, “Shalom, favored lady!Adonai is with you!” 29 She was deeply troubled by his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Miryam, for you have found favor with God. 31 Look! You will become pregnant, you will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Yeshua. 32 He will be great, he will be called Son of Ha‘Elyon.Adonai, God, will give him the throne of his forefather David; 33 and he will rule the House of Ya‘akov forever — there will be no end to his Kingdom.” 34 “How can this be,” asked Miryam of the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered her,
“The Ruach HaKodesh will come over you,

the power of Ha‘Elyon will cover you.
Therefore the holy child born to you
will be called the Son of God.
36 “You have a relative, Elisheva, who is an old woman; and everyone says she is barren. But she has conceived a son and is six months pregnant! 37 For with God, nothing is impossible.” 38 Miryam said, “I am the servant of Adonai;
may it happen to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.

As we anticipate the coming of Christ with this week's lighting the Love candle,
I share another Christina Rossetti poem ~
Love Came Down at Christmas
Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, love divine;
Love was born at Christmas,
Star and angels gave the sign.

Worship we the Godhead,
Love incarnate, love divine;
Worship we our Jesus:
But wherewith for sacred sign?

Love shall be our token,
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and all men,
Love for plea and gift and sign.
