Birthday FuN with the Rev Gals Blog Pals
'Friday Five' post today ~Friday Five: Birthday Edition
There's a birthday for an adult member of my family today. I will admit, I'm not very good at celebrating birthdays. Sadly, the adults in my life have suffered from this affliction. I do manage to rally for my son (now age 7).
I could bore you with my own personal history of birthday laments which may have led to this attitude... but I won't (you're welcome). Instead I'd love to hear your birthday memories.
1) What is the first birthday you remember?
2) Do you recall a favorite gift?
3) Has anyone ever tried to surprise you for your birthday? Did it work? Was it fun?
4) Do you have a favorite birthday dessert?
5) Describe what would be your 'perfect birthday'.

1- the one I'm remembering is probably my 6th.. classmates over for my party and
2- a tiny pink coin purse gift that had a bright copper penny embedded in plastic on the front
actually, I believe I still have it ..
which is a very good thing as today marked the minting of the last penny in Canada!

3- surprise birthday? yes! 3 days after giving birth to my firstborn was my own birthday.
Still in hospital, my in laws arrived with a massive cake,
strawberries with whipped cream plus drinks with all the family following!

So much for the 2 guests per patient rule!
The nurse happened to pop in to check on me -
told us to just keep the door closed - then left us to enjoy the party!
Definitely a success & Totally Fun!
Thanks for this reminder... :)

5- a 'perfect' birthday ?
hmmm - breakfast out at a fave bakery spot..
lunch or dinner alfresco..
{with warm weather to enable it!}
with a friend or two and with my children
Great Friday Fives Kathryn!

Great answers - thanks for inspiring me to embrace birthdays!!!
Thanks for playing!
Your penny in the purse reminds me that for my 50th my mother found dimes minted for each year of my life. She then pasted them onto poster board to spell out "50." Great idea, and what trouble she went to! Your new mother birthday sounds like a great tribute to you.
great fave birthday idea and what a gift to celebrate your own birthday so soon after the birth of a child! I played today, a little later than most since Kathryn posted early, and of course I'd love a visit... peace!
Any pastry shop...anytime!
Oh so sweet for the new mom birthday! And yay for the nurse rule bender.
I would answer some of the questions if I could keep them in my head for long enough to get to the comment form! I did have one surprise birthday, but it was just my husband and me - he had set the table, prepared the food, and made it a special evening!
What a great idea for a Friday post! I happen to love birthdays, so if I answered all five here I wouldn't be allowed the number of words :). But I really enjoyed reading your five (and I, too, love baklava!) Thank you for sharing and for linking up with NOBH! Smiles -
Sounds like you've had a few good birthdays, fellow Canadian! I especially like what your In-laws did for you in the hospital. Great idea for a blog post.
