IT'S AUDIOBOOK MONTH'S 1ST MONDAY! ARE YOU LISTENING? 1.6.14

Taking full advantage of this JUNE option!

I began with Sarah Jio's audiobook releasing JUNE 2nd!
Yes.  Monday's new release from
Blackstone Audio.

June Andersen is professionally successful, but her personal life is marred by unhappiness. Unexpectedly, she is called to settle her great-aunt Ruby’s estate and determine the fate of Bluebird Books, the children’s bookstore Ruby founded in the 1940s. Amidst the store’s papers, June stumbles upon letters between her great-aunt and the late Margaret Wise Brown—and steps into the pages of American literature.
*
Endearing contemporary story influenced by the past,
capturing the moods and realities of June's life as she faces changes on so many levels.  Love the story.
I'd prefer to have read in my own inner voice
as the narrator wasn't age appropriate.  Neither did I appreciate characterizations.  Personal tip?
Always sample the audio bar when making audiobook choices!
But don't miss the goodness of
Goodnight June!

Great lineup of books just ahead.  Excited to get to them
and feeling I actually can now that a major completion in
signing the human rights complaint Friday for the social justice issues I'm defending is DONE!
And, seriously, I need a book break!

Listening to a great novel with a great narrator is a definite treat!

Today I listened to two Agatha Christie stories
read by the definitive Miss Marple herself, Joan Hickson.
Loved them!
The Case of the Perfect Maid and
The Tape Measure Murder
*
*
A gorgeous day to sit outside in the sunshine, breeze
and iced tea with Miss Marple personally telling me stories...
*
I've completed several ARCs for Caffeinated Book Reviewer's MAY Challenge HERE -
a help in staying focused for sure - now to the reviews!
*
More JUNE audiobooks ahead ~

Anne of Green Gables,
Anne of the Islands, and
Anne of Avonlea
perfectly timed as June is the final month for this year's
Canadian Reading Challenge.

living in the quiet mountain cabin she inherited from her single, self-reliant Great Aunt Emma, Allison must come to terms with her grief and figure out how to adapt to small town life. But when she finds a wedding dress and a collection of journals in Emma’s attic, a portrait of her aunt emerges that takes Allison completely by surprise: a portrait of a heartbroken woman surprisingly like herself.

and an intense thriller fav author,
Sibella Giorella 's

Special Agent Raleigh Harmon is good at her job, but not as good at bureau politics. As one of the few females on the team, she finds herself in a strange land when she's transferred from Richmond to drought-stricken Seattle. When a hiker suddenly goes missing and a ransom note arrives, Raleigh realizes there's no time for transitions. Vowing to find the missing college girl, she must rely on her forensic geology skills to uncover the truth, leaving no stone unturned.
Gritty and poetic, with an evocative sense of place, a quirky cast of characters, a fast-twisting plot, and a compelling, complicated heroine, this superbly crafted mystery will keep you reading compulsively as hope runs short, the clock runs down, and the rivers run dry.

It does looks like you have some good books lined up. The narrator can make a big diffeence in whether you enjoy an audio or not...

Happy reading!

I didn't know this was Audiobook Month! I've just found Audiobook Sync, so I'm going to try and review some more audiobooks this month! How amazing is it to have Joan Hickson read the Miss Marple stories! I hope you enjoy your reads! My Monday post

All of your audiobook choices look appealing and I'll be adding some to my list. I got a print copy of Good Night June at BEA which I'm hoping to start soon (Sarah Jio is one of my favorite authors).

Thanks for visiting my blog. Happy listening!

I started listening to audiobooks on my daily commute to and from work about six months ago, and I'm really enjoying the format. The narrator does make a HUGE difference, though--luckily I've only listened to one book that had a narrator with a voice that annoyed me.
I've never listened to any of Agatha Christie's books, but I used to love to read her mysteries and I still have a lot of my paperback copies.

I loved Goodnight June and I'd be lost without an audiobook, I've got The Collector up next but The River Runs Dry sounds awesome. Happy listening :)
