IT'S AUDIOBOOK MONTH'S 1ST MONDAY! ARE YOU LISTENING? 1.6.14

Taking full advantage of this JUNE option! * I began with Sarah Jio's audiobook releasing JUNE 2nd! Yes.  Monday's new release from  Blackstone Audio. *

Unexpectedly, she is called to settle her great-aunt Ruby’s estate and determine the fate of Bluebird Books, the children’s bookstore Ruby founded in the 1940s. Amidst the store’s papers, June stumbles upon letters between her great-aunt and the late Margaret Wise Brown—and steps into the pages of American literature. * Endearing contemporary story influenced by the past, capturing the moods and realities of June's life as she faces changes on so many levels.  Love the story.  I'd prefer to have read in my own inner voice as the narrator wasn't age appropriate.  Neither did I appreciate characterizations.  Personal tip?  Always sample the audio bar when making audiobook choices! But don't miss the goodness of
Goodnight June! * Great lineup of books just ahead.  Excited to get to them and feeling I actually can now that a major completion in  signing the human rights complaint Friday for the social justice issues I'm defending is DONE!  And, seriously, I need a book break! *

Today I listened to two Agatha Christie stories read by the definitive Miss Marple herself, Joan Hickson. Loved them!   The Case of the Perfect Maid and

What do you do while you listen?

Any particular tasks or games that you find amazing for audio time?

Despite all the invites to game playing I know I'd be caught up in them  leaving a lot of other things undone!  I have to astutely avoid them for my own good! Usually what I do while I listen is drive.  I find listening makes driving relaxing. The miles fly by and I'm at my destination seemingly in less time. And I've enjoyed the pleasure of imagining with the story. * Listening at home whilst folding laundry, doing laundry, making beds,  meal prep [if it's a familiar dish not requiring concentration!]

knitting, quilting, creating bracelets or bookmarks, are some tasks that afford easy listening. *

*

The easiest, of course, is resting somewhere in the world of the story! *
