PARIS IN JULY: 1st MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING? 6.7.15

~ What are you reading?
~ Great question to begin this week of Paris in July as I look at the stack and the basket and then consider ereads and audios waiting for my attention ... ~ Just completed one that's still sitting with me - Tides of Honour ~

~ Canadian author, Genevieve Graham's masterful WWI story that takes the reader from a wartime life in Paris to England then across the Atlantic to the Eastern shore of Canada.
Not to miss this talented writer. ~ Great additions as well to Canadian Book Challenge 9  and Big Book Summer ~ ~ Currently reading another Paris in July entry Lisette's List ~

~ Fascinating story of the art collected by a paint supply salesman throughout his lifetime. Art of famous French artists and their stories lived and preserved through his memories  told before he dies.  I'm just getting to the beginning of the war as Germany invades France and their meaningless destruction of thousands of works of art.
Unique story and writing style . My book choice for July's #collaboreads challenge and another Big Book Summer read.

~ The Forgotten Garden, Still underway,  I've just chosen to wait for an
 audio copy arrival to complete it.  I'm definitely intrigued with the multi generational story layering. ~

~ #TraveltheWorldinBooks twitter party wraps it up this week if you'd like to join the discussion - July 8th 9-10 pm est   July 13th Another Big Book Summer Challenge read for me. ~ Next Up? ~

~ Loved the humorous anecdotes of Lebovitz's initial Paris experiences upon arriving from America.   Discovered as I browsed library selections.  Looking forward to more plus the recipes of course! The Sweet Life in Paris pb and on audio here ~

~ Among the Fair Magnolias, a beguiling collection of four novellas,
including Tamera Alexander's anticipated conclusion to Susannah's story from To Win Her Favor.

AUDIOBOOK MONTH | CANADIAN BOOK CHALLENGE | PARIS IN JULY 29.6.15

JUNE IS

MONTH ! ~ Audiobooks have majored in my weekend featuring not a few rainstorms. I've been enjoying the focus on audiobooks as I've learned over the years to find storytellers that bring books to life. Amanda McKnight is just such an artisan. Jessica Dotta's Price of Privilege series benefits from Amanda's emotive abilities to create atmosphere, uniquely characterize antagonists and protagonists, create settings, and oh, those amazing Brit accents! ~ My treat this weekend was a hoopla streaming of the final in the trilogy, PRICE OF PRIVILEGE.
Edge of the seat kind of drama and intensity! Characters who'd revealed themselves in the earlier novels, now gave their final farewells in multiple ploys and plottings. Such an amazing story of thought and action, Ms Dotta is a masterful writer. Have you checked out the series?  Hoopla is available free via your library card. Can it get easier than that? ~ Well...  maybe having an audio or 2 arrive in my mailbox ?! This week brought a perfectly timed package direct from the audiobook narrator. Appreciation to Tanya Eby for selecting an audio she recommended for this mystery fan - a new to me author and series by Katherine Hall Page set in the English countryside. You already know I'm scrounging for more listening time, right? ~

~ and I had the pleasure of completing Victoria Connelly's multi-layered English family drama, THE ROSE GIRLS narrated with a dramatically characterized cast by Fiona Hardingham. A definite delight I discovered earlier in my mailbox this audiomonth of June! ~
