thankfully not a repeat of last monday's
waking to find half my face dropped & an 8 hour hospital visit!

but it definitely has put a crimp into reading..
only one useable eye that tires easily
and no desire to be wrecking the one I've got !
sooo...
I'm enjoying an itty bitty book that friends delivered this week,
{along with tulips and chicken lunch!}
My order from Brilliant Book House included
7 interactive journals that I've begun and am LoVing !!

my first in the Being With God series
is about what is really happening when God doesn't seem to be present...
fascinating & totally eye opening !
lots of ah hah ! moments ..
here's what I've been finding out ~

These books are filled with great teaching and interactive exercises,
making them ideal for both personal and small group study.
In Hiddenness and Manifestation,
Graham Cooke looks at the seasons of God's presence.
Why is it that sometimes God's presence is so overtly with us,
yet at other times seems strangely absent?
What is God doing during those times?
Is it our fault? Has He withdrawn from us for some reason?
These are some of the questions that are answered as
the "hiddenness" of God is illustrated from the Scriptures.
An absolute must-read for anyone who is struggling
in the dark night of the soul, or feeling distant from the Lord.
Incredibly encouraging, gentle, and life-bringing!

and I will have to say "EXACTLY!"
that is what I am finding !!
you will not be disappointed in adding these journals
{also available as ebooks!}
to your spiritual growth collections ...

Two novels arrived by post..

A Riveting Tale of Faith and Romance
by Siri Mitchell
Hannah Sunderland felt content in her embrace of the Quaker faith until her twin brother ran off and joined the army and ended up captured and in jail. Suddenly Hannah's world turns on end. She longs to bring her brother some measure of comfort in the squalid, frigid prison where he remains. But the Quakers believe they are not to take sides, not to take up arms. Can she sit by and do nothing while he suffers?
Jeremiah Jones has an enormous task before him. Responsibility for a spy ring is now his, and he desperately needs access to the men in prison, whom they are seeking to free. A possible solution is to garner a pass for Hannah. But while she is fine to the eye, she holds only disdain for him--and agreeing would mean disobeying those she loves and abandoning a bedrock of her faith.
With skill and sensitivity, Mitchell tells a story of two unlikely heroes seeking God's voice, finding the courage to act, and discovering the powerful embrace of love.
