My Book Beginning?

From THE PROPHETESS :Deborah's Story
by Jill Eileen Smith

"When new gods were chosen,
then war was in the gates.
Deborah, poet, prophetess,
                   and judge in Israel"

Always fascinated with Deborah's role in historic accounts,
I was sure not to miss this new fictional account.
The book beginning sets the background
for what we know of the time in Israel's history.
Now what will I
come to know about Deborah as daughter, wife, and mother, along with public roles as poet,
prophetess, and judge ...

I'm not familiar with the author, but that has a good hook.

I like the beginning and think the cover is stunning in a "Girl with the Pearl Earring" type of way - definitely adding this to my tbr because like you the only thing I know about Deborah is what I've read in the bible and I'd like to know more. Here's my Friday meme

What a beautiful and captivating cover! Really want to send this book to my Godmother, whose name is Deborah and has worked in my life as both prophetess and poet.

A lovely tribute to your Godmother and appropriate gift. I totally agree on the striking cover! I'd love to hear her reaction to your thoughtful gift...
Thanks so much for taking time to visit and respond, Sibella. I'm honoured!
