ARMCHAIR BEA: DAY 3 

Beyond the traditional form of the novel, what are your favourite alternative 
forms? Do you have any favorite works within these alternate forms?

Fav alternate forms for me are audiobooks and kindle on my tablet.
Favourite audiobooks are the Hamish Macbeth mystery series.
Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache, Jessica Dotta's Born of Persuasion. Donna Leon's Guido Brunetti.and Sibella Giorello's Raleigh Harmon series.
To name a few...  Are you an audiobook fan?
Which books would you name as favourites?

How do you think the changing format affects the reading experience? 
~

Changing the format allows for increased reading experience and enjoyment.

It's like having a story read to me and enjoyed just like my children love having the world of a story opened to them in the reading.

I especially love the scottish and english stories when read by  an authentically accented narrator that keeps it real and takes me back to times

and places I've enjoyed.  Or a full dramatisation by the BBC cast.
And, not to miss, the added freedom to simultaneously work on
other projects whilst enjoying the story! The kindle on tablet brings cover colour to life for an added appreciation

and the touch screen for font size increase, change in brightness as needed

Our secondary topic, Beyond the Blog, focuses on the ways I engage in 
talking about books outside of my blog.

How and where do I participate? 
~
In fact, I am always talking books!
I'm actively present at my local library, reserving and requesting
new library purchases of authors not yet shelved and books next in series. Through this frequent presence I've become known
and have now been asked to partner with them in an upcoming
outreach project of installing Little Free Libraries for low income areas
of the city where I live.   ~

~
I am super excited for this amazing opportunity
and look forward to beginning this summer reading extension into
the neighbourhoods that will benefit from increased literacy.
~ I also am providing a book sale table tomorrow at a local

community club event.
~
Online, I'm active in quite a number of reading challenges as linked under header including the goodreads annual challenge - a great way to keep track of my
year's reading - and I'm pretty much
 'meticulous in maintaining my goodreads profile' as abea states ;) I've taken the '50 book pledge' [see sidebar ] finding it a great way to track my year's reading and progress and it's not limited to only 50 books!
I love to find downloads of ebooks and audios or streaming via hoopla
a free service offered by public libraries with your membership card.

that I 'd never have met otherwise.  I am both glad and grateful!

I'm also talking books as member of a local bookstore bookclub meeting once per month.
I would like to begin a bookclub, but a bit short on time.  Especially if I ever
want to catchup on ARCs and reviews!

News in our world is overwhelming with politics, tragedy, dissension, and hope, writes Jan in Texas for Rev Gals Friday Five.
If you prefer for this Friday Five, you may write about any of the current affairs you are thinking about.  However, I suggest a look at your life at this moment, right Now, TODAY:

1. What are you thinking about?

Overwhelmed with issues of worldwide and local injustices.  The need for prioritizing prayer.  For acting in the Light and in light of our faith.
Right Now?  Pretty much focused on Q3 at the moment!
~

2. What book are you reading or have just finished reading?
~

Just finished reading and sitting with the impact of the Hutterites' history
that much of today's news mirrors as learned in the reading.  Such a worthwhile read.  I met author, Linda Maendel, in person at  the book launch after corresponding for a couple years via our blogs and twitter.  Great experience to make the blog connection personal.  Highly recommended reading.

3. What is your favourite television or radio program?

Saturday's radio program is topping the list.
I am being interviewed by BBC radio 2, London UK, June 20th.  A host that intros emerging music via the mom of a child [adult] involved in indie music.
My son is one of those. 
Saturday June 20th, his band, THE PAST, will be debuted and
their single, Higher Than the Sun.

Pretty cool.  Not just a little nervous, but wouldn't miss it for anything!

5. Who do you think of for Father's Day?
Thinking of both my own father and his life impact
and my eldest son.  Young father of two sons - 2 year old and 3 month old.
And all that means for change.  Now and future.
Looking forward to celebrating him with a Sunday BBQ with his lovely family.

Armchair BEA: Blogging Success Tips ~ Ask the Experts! 2012

Today's topic is Ask the Experts ~

what conversation might we have about blogging but haven't

found anyone to ask?

are there questions my non-blogging readers would like to ask?

are there tips my blogging readers would like to offer?

Now is the perfect opp to find out!

Just ask!

One tip I would offer is to use the scheduled blog option

if you know you won't be available on the date

and have time in advance {key point}

prepare your blog post in advance

then schedule its posting time in keeping with when you

want the post to appear...

Another would be to read your post critically

before publishing.

Your choice of wording may not be conveying your message

with the kindness or care you intend...

It may be offensive or harsh

which can be corrected before posting

 preventing a turn off to readers before it occurs !

 I've contacted authors if I've felt 

either a personal connxn or their book was uniquely suited to

for debuting authors and seasoned authors alike ~
