FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER: ALPHA's NEW GOOD NEWS 17.4.16

BEGINNING a NEW WEEK with GOOD NEWS

*

~

Welcome to this 4th Sunday of Easter
and to a new week...
~

Living God,
long ago, faithful followers
proclaimed  the good news
of Jesus' resurrection,
and the world was changed forever.
Teach us to keep faith with them,
that our witness may be as bold,
our love as deep,
and our faith as true.
In Your Son's Name we pray,
Amen.

Father of all,
Your Son remained with His disciples  after His resurrection,
teaching them to love all people as neighbours.
As Yeshua Jesus' disciples in this age,
we offer our prayers on behalf of the world
in which we are privileged to live
and our neighbours with whom we share it.
Open our hearts to Your power moving
around us and between us and within us,
until Your glory is revealed in our love of both friend and enemy,
in communities transformed by Your justice and compassion,
Your Truth, Life and Light,
and in the healing of all that is broken.
In Yeshua Jesus' Name.  Amen.

Scripture Readings

| Psalm 63 and 98 | Acts 9.36-43 | Rev 7.9-17 | Mt 7.15-29 |
| Jn 10.22-30 |
*
May God's glory shine on and within us,
may our lives
proclaim God's goodness,
our work give God honour, and our voices praise
God
forever...
As we go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
Amen.

HOLY WEEK: WEDNESDAY PRAYERS + SCRIPTURE READINGS 23.3.16

~
HOLY WEEK:  WEDNESDAY
~
Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples
John 13.35
~
Holy God,
who call Your people to sustain the weary and protect the oppressed.
Uphold us in our concerns and strengthen us,
that we may not only speak our prayers
but act on behalf of their fulfillment.
Most Holy One,
grant that we may be counted as members of the great cloud of witnesses
who live with justice and compassion,
and reveal Your divine glory before all people.
In the name of the Son You glorified.  Amen.
~
Scripture Readings:
{click to read}
Isaiah 50.4-9a |  Psalm 70  |  Hebrews 12.1-3  |  John 13.21-32
~
Powerful Deliverer,
as You delivered the Hebrews safely
out of the long labour of slavery,
so, morning by morning,
You draw us forth into the new day.
Surround us with Your cloud of witnesses,
and sustain us by Your powerful Word, that,
in the night of loneliness and fear,
we, being weary , may not lose heart.
Comfort us in tribulation
as we push toward the joy that is to come,
labouring with Christ to give birth
to Your promised kingdom.
We ask this in the name of Your Son, Yeshua Jesus.
Amen.

HOLY WEEK: MONDAY PRAYERS + READINGS 21.3.16

~

This is real love - not that we loved God, but that God loved us and sent
His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

1 John 4.10

~

HOLY WEEK:  MONDAY
God, through Christ, has given us as a covenant to the people,
to heal and to liberate through prayer and presence.
We gather the concerns of the church and the world,
and hold them in our hearts before our Creator and Redeemer.
Gracious God, the Hope of all in need,
pour your Spirit upon us,
that we may be instruments of Your justice and compassion,
a light to the nations,
and a living promise of Your new heaven and new earth.
In Your Son's name we pray, Amen.
~
Scripture Readings:
{click to read}
Isaiah 42.1-9 |  Psalm 36.5-11  |  Hebrews 9.11-15  |  John 12.1-11
~
God of steadfast love,
Light of the blind and Liberator of the oppressed,
we see Your holy purpose in the tender compassion of Jesus,
who calls us into new and living friendship with You.
May we, who take shelter in the shadow of Your wings,
be filled with the grace of His tender caring;
may we, who stumble in selfish darkeness,
see Your glory in the light of His self-giving.
We ask this through The One whose suffering is victorious.
Jesus Christ our Saviour.  Amen.

SACRED SPACE: CHRISTMAS SUNDAY 2 + #SONGSonSUNDAYS 4.1.15

Today I invite you to create some sacred space...

An invitation to stillness.  Rest.
Then to re-enter your day renewed.

Choose a quiet time and space where you will be
undisturbed and undistracted.
Be present to yourself and open to God's Presence.
*
"May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart
be acceptable in your Presence, ADONAI, my Rock and Redeemer."
Psalm 19.15 CJB

*

The Presence of God
As I sit here, the beating of my heart,
the ebb and flow of my breathing, the movements of my mind
are all signs of God's ongoing creation of me.
I pause for a moment, and become aware
of this presence of God within me.

*
Freedom
I ask for the grace
to let go of my own concerns
and be open to what God is asking of me,
to let myself be guided and formed by my loving Creator.

*
Consciousness
In the presence of my loving Creator,
I look honestly at my feelings over the last day,
the highs, the lows and the level ground.
Can I see where the Lord has been present?

*
*
The Word
I take my time to read the Word of God, slowly, a few times,
allowing myself to dwell on anything that strikes me.

*
Today's Readings
Jeremiah 31.7-14 | Psalm 147.12-20 | Ephesians 1.3-14 | John 1.1-18
[When you are ready, return here to continue.]

*
Conversation
Remembering that I am still in God's Presence,
I imagine Jesus himself standing or sitting beside me,
and say whatever is on my mind, whatever is in my heart,
speaking as one friend to another.
*
Conclusion
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen
*
For today's #SONGSonSUNDAYS
we have the stunning prayer,
LIGHT OF THE WORLD by Lauren Daigle
Be. Blessed...

We are so blessed.  Lets Live it.

Shalom.

Today's Sacred Space featured SACRED SPACE: the prayer book
a prayer guide of weekly introductions followed by daily readings
with questions to challenge thoughts that arise in the reading.
Readings follow the church year, noting Advent, Lent, Feast days, etc.
I have found the prayer book to be thoughtful and thought inspiring.
I find that journalling my responses personalizes the spiritual journey that
practicing a daily sacred space offers.

You have revealed Your will to all people

May we hear and do what You command,

through Your Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever.  Amen.

Hear, O Israel,
the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
This is the first and the great commandment.
The second is like it:
Love your neighbour as yourself.
There is no commandment greater than these.
*
Eternal God,
receive all we offer You this day.
Give us the wisdom of obedience and help us to do
Your holy and life-giving will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
For You are the fountain of Light and Life for all Your creation:
You have made us in Your own image, and do raise us to New Life
in Jesus Christ our Saviour.
You feed us at the table of Your grace.
Deliver us from all spiritual pride,
and give us a quiet confidence in Your mercy.
We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
*
Go in Peace to Love and serve the Lord.
Thanks be to God!

Monday in Holy Week 3.25.13

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
1 John 4.10

Readings:
{click reference to link directly}

"In Your Light, O God, we see Light."

Ruler of all creation,
your Son was anointed with costly oil
in preparation for death and the grave.
Receive all we offer you this day
for the sake of Him who died that we might live,
Yeshua, Jesus Christ the Lord.

Blessed are you, gracious God,
creator of heaven and earth;
we give you thanks and praise
through Yeshua, Jesus Christ our Lord,
who for our sins was lifted high upon the cross,
that he might draw the whole world to himself.
By his suffering and death,
he became the source of eternal salvation
for all who put their trust in him.
Therefore with all the host of heaven
who gather around your throne and the Lamb,
we raise our voices
to proclaim the Glory of Your Name.

. . .

Help us to follow in the path of Him
who came to open the eyes of the blind
and bring prisoners out of darkness,
Yeshua, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
